Frequently Asked Questions

We have compiled a list of inquiries we frequently receive.
We welcome questions other than those listed below, so please feel free to contact us.

About Machined Parts Manufacturing

What kinds of materials can you machine?
We primarily machine **steel, stainless steel, and aluminum**.
We also have experience machining difficult-to-cut materials such as **quenched steel, Inconel, and titanium**.
Can you machine resins?
We have experience in machining complex shapes in **resins**.
Can you deliver finished components (including heat treatment, welding, grinding, plating, etc.)?
Yes, it is possible. We have a network of over 50 companies called the Yamamoto Kinzoku Kyowakai,
allowing us to handle a wide range of processing, including **grinding, heat treatment, plating, welding, and sheet metal processing**.
What level of precision can you achieve? (e.g., how many microns)
We can achieve precision up to **±0.005mm**. We also handle test pieces that require high precision.
For precision finer than this, please consult with us separately.
What is the maximum size you can machine?
We can handle sizes from **φ5 to φ700**.
Can I place an order for just one piece?
Yes, we can handle orders starting from **one piece**.
Can you handle quantities of tens of thousands of pieces or more?
This can be handled by our group company, **Yamamoto Precision**.
What is the turnaround time (delivery time)?
The delivery time varies depending on the drawing, machine availability, and complexity of the request,
so we handle it on a case-by-case basis.
Can I know the price beforehand?
We will provide a quote and delivery time after inquiring about the machining shape, material, required delivery time, and quantity.
Do I need to bring in the materials myself?
We will procure the materials based on the drawings provided.
However, there may be cases where special materials cannot be sourced.
Can you perform a 100% dimensional inspection?
Yes, we can if you request it at the time of the machining order.
We can also provide the measurement results if necessary.
How many machine tools do you own?
We own **145 NC lathes**, **17 machining centers (vertical, horizontal, 5-axis)**, and multiple cylindrical grinding machines, etc. Please see the [Equipment List](/company/equipment) for details.
What kind of measuring equipment do you own?
We have a quality assurance system equipped with many inspection devices, including **3D Coordinate Measuring Machines**.
We also support non-destructive testing such as **PT, UT, and MT**.
Please see the [Equipment List](/company/equipment) for details.
Is it possible to request only dimensional measurement for urgent products?
We also accept requests for measurement only.
We can flexibly arrange staff to meet short-notice requirements.
Please see the [Measurement Services](/company/equipment) for details.

About Equipment and Machinery

I am interested in a cutting force dynamometer; is it possible to purchase one from your company?
We have a business alliance with Kistler Japan and are also an **authorized dealer for Kistler products**. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us.
Is it possible to handle fixtures and equipment for site improvement,
from design to assembly (device)?
We also accept the manufacture of **custom-made equipment**.
We have experience ranging from a single fixture to automated line devices.
Please see our [Product Information](/products) for details.
If you have any issues, please contact us.

About Measurement and Evaluation Equipment

Is it possible to request only a fatigue test?
Yes, it is possible as we are also a **contract testing facility**.
We also accept requests starting from the production of test pieces.
Please see the [Material Testing Service](/service/lab-test) page for details.
Is it possible to request both the production of a rotating bending fatigue test piece and the test itself?
Yes, we can handle it starting from the test piece production, as we have many years of accumulated know-how in cutting and machining.
Please see the [Material Testing Service](/service/lab-test) page for details.
For expensive materials like 3D printer materials, I cannot provide a large parent material. Is fatigue testing still possible?
There is no problem if a test piece with a minimum diameter of **φ5** can be produced.
We also have experience in evaluating **3D printed (metal additive manufactured) materials**.
Please see the [Metal Additive Manufacturing Material Evaluation Test Service](/service/am-test) page for details.
What are the key features of the GIGA QUAD®?
The biggest feature of our testing machine is that it is a **4-station type**, which allows for quick data collection and efficient creation of **S-N curves**.
Furthermore, it is possible to conduct fatigue tests simulating high loads and actual environments.
Please see the [GIGA QUAD®](/products/gigaquad) page for details.
Is it possible to try out the MULTI INTELLIGENCE®?
The MULTI INTELLIGENCE® (both Cutting and FSW types) is available through our **rental service**. Please use it for optimizing machining conditions on your company’s actual machine.
Please see the [MULTI INTELLIGENCE®](/products/m-intel) page for details.

About Evaluation Test Services

Can I get a report of the test results for the Machinability Evaluation Test Service?
Yes, it is possible if requested during the initial meeting.
We can also provide the data collected during the test.
I am considering requesting the Machinability Evaluation Test Service; can you also propose a testing plan?
Yes, we can select the testing conditions (machine, tool, cutting conditions, etc.) and create a specification document for you.
However, a separate meeting will be required for this purpose.
Is it possible to be present during the Machinability Evaluation Test?
Yes, it is possible. The Machinability Evaluation Test Service is primarily conducted at our **Okayama R&D Center**, so you would need to visit this location.
Is it possible to be present during the FSW Evaluation Test?
Yes, it is possible.
The FSW Evaluation Test Service is primarily conducted at **YAMAMOTO Lab (within Toyama Industrial Technology Research and Development Center)**, so you would need to visit YAMAMOTO Lab.
